Respect
This rule is something that should be nothing but common sense. It's mainly a reminder to be respectful of other members and especially the staff. You don't have to make friends with everyone but don't go announcing it to the entire site. Keep it to yourself and if anything take it to messenger to keep from disturbing other member
Patience
It is a virtue for one. It is also something to have while here on TFP: DH. Not only with staff but with other members when it comes to posting as well. We as staff cannot be on 24/7 so there will be times when you'll have to wait before something can be done. We don't do this on purpose as a lot of us are in school and have jobs. If it is taking too long for us to get to something then after 3 days you are allowed to send one of us a pm as a reminder. Don't whine to us about it constantly in the cbox or try to bother us about it before the 3 day mark because things might end up taking even longer. Patience is a good thing to have!
Activity
You don't have to be super duper to the extreme active but be active to some extent. There are times when things come up in real life that cause us to have to step back from the keyboard. Just stick up a thread or give one of the staff a heads up about an absence and we'll take care of it.
Literacy
TFP: DH is a literate roleplay. We expect spelling and correct grammar out of you. We do, however, understand if English is not your first language or if you have a disability such as dyslexia but try to write to the best of your ability. Just tell staff what's up in a pm if need be. Typos here and there are fine since they happen to the best of us but if it's just completely unreadable then there will be an issue.
Spam
Common sense? Yes. Perhaps even the most obvious rule in this list. Just don't do it. Nobody likes a spammer. Otherwise there is a lovely black hole waiting for you.
Avatars and Signatures
Please pay attention to this rule. It can probably end up being the easiest rule to break besides spam. Avatars should be no bigger than 100x100 and signatures should be no bigger than 500x250. If either are any bigger than these said sizes, which we will notice, then we will remove the image and tell you why.
Godmodding
Godmodding, powerplaying, or metagaming will not be allowed nor tolerated here on Darkest Hours. If you don't know what any of them are then go Google them as it should be pretty common knowledge by now. The first time someone breaks this rule there will be a warning depending on what extent it was taken. The second offense shall be a week long ban and upon the third and/or fourth offense you will be permanently banned from the. Don't let it come to this.
Posting Order
This just makes it easier on everyone as a whole. There should be a clear posting order in threads to avoid confusion. Patience comes in here as well. If someone hasn't posted in a thread for 2 days or so then send them a pm before deciding to skip on ahead of them.
Post Size
Darkest Hours, being a literate roleplaying site, has a posting minimum that should be in every post. Posts should at least be 250 words long but keep your roleplaying partner in mind. How would you feel if you just got done typing up a 700 or more post and get only the minimum word count back? We do understand a situation of particularly low muse though so just tell someone you have low muse and it'll be fine.
Characters
We allow a person to have multiple characters here but they should all be on separate accounts. Try not to make too many characters for you to handle at one given point in time. We ask that if you do have a multitude of characters that you are active with the lot of them. Until further notice, all members have a 5 character limit.
RP Content
Proboard's terms of service should be followed while on TFP: DH. With their regulations, we are a PG-13 rated site. No excessive use of violence and/or drinking or drug use. Smut should be kept at a tasteful manner or taken to a private messenger somewhere off of the site. Cursing is allowed but do not go to an extreme level like Tourette's.
To prove that you did indeed read the rules and understood them then you need to input the word Thall into your profile where the staff can see it.
